People under the age of 30 may be more familar with it from OfficeSpace than from SuperMan III, but it was all I could think about when reading about Google Will Eat Itself.
In SuperMan 3, Richard Pryor comes up with the devious scheme to change the rounding functions of the bank’s mainframe so that the extra thousandths of a cent are deposited in his account instead of where they need to be and thus will allow hilarity and pathos to ensue. Similarly, GWEI has come up with a devious scheme to fake people into thinking they are “fighting the man” and “sticking it to the machine” while they patiently collect thousands of greedy people’s personal information so that hilarity and pathos may ensue. Just a thought. |
