My development environment has consisted of a Windows Machine, a Mac Mini and a Linux box (running Cent OS) for a while now.
With the recent release of MySQL 5, I thought it would be amusing to both begin upgrading my development boxes and also install PHP+MySQL on all of the different machines to play with replication, etc.
I ran into some issues with the Linux installation and discovered (via the excellent MySQL support forums), that I wasn’t alone.
Now, here is where things got weird:
There is a RSS button on the page that from all appearances is for messages in that particular thread. However, the RSS file presented for auto-detection is for ALL messages in the Install forum. So, instead of being given 4 items about my particular problem, I was given 80 items about getting MySQL going with C# and other business.
I think I’m more annoyed by the RSS misdirection (because it is so relatively easy to fix) than by the fact that I can’t actually get the software itself to work.
