I’m working on a new project (this is actually the first public mention of it) called OneToFive. It lets users create comparisons and ratings of whatever topic they are researching.
I spent a good chunk of today cleaning up the homepage from its very rough beginning. This is necessarily an iterative process as I change, tweak, add and remove elements from the site. This process allowed the extent of the changes to sneak up on me until I found an unrefreshed tab in Firefox.
While the changes are pretty small, together they make a big impact.
Changes:
- Buttons for SignUp and LogIn (stolen from another of my projects: FeedMail)
- Word Count reduced from 67 to 42 words
- Tagline moved to it’s own header
- Graphic ordinal numbers (in green) replaced the text “1″ and “2″
- Removed craptastic red “Example” that was obscuring the grid comparison image
- Removed the bottom row from the grid, 3 rows is enough to convey the idea and the last row was a throwaway test entry that snuck in anyway
- Forced a width for all elements instead of it being fully liquid

WHAT TO DO NOW?
