Yahoo Mail Requires CAPTCHA to Send Messages

I’ve had the same Yahoo Email Address for the past 6 years. I gladly paid for a “Premium” Yahoo! Mail account. I was a paying customer of OddPost Mail (who Yahoo acquired), and I was one of the first beta testers of the new Yahoo Mail service.

With this context, I was a little shocked when they accused me of being a spammer.

Yahoo Mail CAPTCHA

My crime? Sending a URL in an email to a friend. Yahoo Mail now apparently requires CAPTCHA completion for any “suspicious” messages. Adding to the stupidity of this arrangement, the CAPTCHA in many cases is impossible to read. It took two tries to get my email out.

While I can appreciate that Yahoo needs to fight spam, this is not the way to do it.

I’m done. Hello GMail.

I contacted yahoo support and the rep said is a “bug in system”, “a spam flag being incorrectly set somewhere”. Rep said workaround to fix bug (“clear the flag”) is to send three (3) blank e-mails addressed to yourself (mark Not Spam when they come), then re-send the real e-mail.
