Bloglines Encoding Completely Trashed

I thought that maybe I’d just gotten drunk and accidently subscribed to several hundred RSS feeds in German and other languages I don’t speak, but after further examination, it appears that something bad happened today with Bloglines encoding of feeds, check this stuff out:

Nearly every feed in my unread list today had issues like this, it was still readable, but looked like someone had run the blogosphere through a heavy metal lyrics translator.

That actually looks like…lemme think which way… I believe Latin1 character encoding declared as UTF8.

Kinda giving me flashbacks. A little while ago I fixed a database for a client. They had migrated from MySQL 4.0 to 5 and somehow managed to import Latin1 charset encoded data that was then served as UTF8.

If the site/page/rss still looks like that, (in firefox) try going to View > Character Encoding > Western (ISO-8859-1). THat might fix it. If it’s already set to Western, pick UTF8. It’s one or the other. Obviously that only help figure out the problem, but doesn’t actually fix the issue.
