I’ve been looking around for some new hosting and have had two really disheartening experiences just attempting to sign up with a couple different places.
Dreamhost promises account activation in 24 hours, but 96 hours later had failed to so much as send me an email, much less deign to you know, charge my credit card and actually setup my service.
I had even less luck with Media Temple, they have a very slick site that looks more like a Mac software site than a hosting companies. Unfortunately, on the first page of their “Instant Activation” wizard:
1. If you choose “Do NOT register a domain” it naturally complains that you haven’t entered a domain.
2. If you try to enter a new domain it complains that: “Domain names can contain only letters, numbers, hyphens and periods.”
This is a little disheartening.
