Today marks the release of two new episodes in the annals of Zombiedom:

The Walking Dead, Vol. 6: This Sorrowful Life The Walking Dead, Vol. 6 is now out. This series of graphic novels along with Y: The Last Man has really rekindled my interest in comic books and the genre.

It’s interesting that in the era of “snack culture” that the only really growing segment of the comic book industry (aside from it’s continuing use as a for profit storyboarding system for Hollywood blockbusters) is the longer form trade paperback graphic novel. I see the trade paperbacks as the HBO equivalent of broadcast TV: no commercials (ads), longer form, etc.

28 Weeks Later...
28 Weeks Later is finally out and if it’s anything as awesome as 28 Days Later the screen is going to explode with zombie awesomeness.

As gut-wrenching as the movie looks to be, some of the emotional impact of it is likely lost on me and the rest of the North American audience. I can objectively see: “Wow that block of London looks blown to splinters”, which is different than: “Wow, that place I walk past 5 times a week got leveled and the zombies ate the Starbucks barista I get my morning cup from.”

Awesome Zombie Weekend.
